When did you join the scheme? Any pension on service pre-April 2015 has an NRA of 65 (even if you haven't been in long enough to benefit from the rule of 85), not SPA.0 -

- Going after 65 will lead to an 'actuarial increase' on your final salary benefits, though going and drawing your pension before SPA will lead to an 'actuarial decrease' in your CARE benefits (and final salary benefits if before 65).
- Flexible retirement is at least a possibility (i.e. where you start to draw at least some of your pension to date, but continue to work with a substantive cut in hours or grade) - if that's of interest, you should enquire with HR.
- I think the main thing to consider is clearly your pension, not the thing you actually started this thread about
