Proof of Deposit

Options
Hi so we have the continuing on going saga of a mortgage application

We got rejected by a lot of mainstream banks and therefore ended up going to aldermore.

We initially planned to place a 5% deposit £3000 we had saved and the rest a gifted deposit with proof provided. We also provided 3 months of bank statements showing us putting money into savings each month.

Everything going swimmingly and then they declined and said my husband's p60 did not.add up... he recently changed jobs. Statement of correction and wage slips sent..... Everything back on track.

Then came back and said they wanted a further £6000 go make a 10% deposit. We gave this, we had the money saved from a motorcycle sale, Bill.of sale produced- rejected due to no address.... new bill.of sale produced (hubby works with buyer) and DVLA statement showing we are no longer the registered owners of the vehicle. Everything back on track but now they are saying we have not proven £3000 of our deposit despite the bank statements we sent???

Any help or further insights.

Our mortgage advisor is going to appeal tomorrow as he cannot see the issue.

  • Hold on, let me just consult your file i have complete access to in order to see what Aldermore have the issue with......

Without speaking to aldermore to find out what they have an issue with this is an impossible question to answer.
  • Umm as stated above the issue is that apparently the bank statements we have provided do not prove £3000 has been saved.

No need to be so rude is there.

Was the £3000 transferred from another account or was it just gradually built up in the account you provided the statement for.

A recent bank statement with £3000 in it does not show the source of the funds.
  • It was built up.over several months, we were told by the underwriter to provide 3 months of bank statements showing the deposits going in which we have and they have come back today to say it has been rejected based on the fact that we have not proven the £3000 we have saved. Not sure how else we can prove it.

Can only suggest you provide statements going as far back as when the savings started to accumulate. You didn't clarify if this was a seperate savings account? If it was you would need to show the transfers from your normal account.

If it wasn't a seperate account then what are the deposits going in you refer to?
  • We provided statements from both our current account and our savings account. We offered to send further statements but our mortgage advisor is going to appeal first. It just feels like everytime we have done as they as they throw another spanner in the works.
