Technically, I believe Rocky Road needs marshmallows.

My gran made a simple refrigerator cake. The ingredients were
    4oz butter/marg
    4 tablespoons sugar,
    4 tablespoons golden syrup
    2 tablespoons cocoa
    8oz rich tea biscuits

Melt sugar, syrup, butter and cocoa over a low heat. Crush biscuits and add them to melted ingredients. Put in tin and press down. When cooled cover with melted chocolate. Occasionally she used to add sultanas and other dried fruit but generally just used the recipe above.
