Annual Leave Requests Being Ignored

I have about 10 days of leave to take until the end of the year.
The person that books my annual leave (centralised rota system) has simply ignored my last email.
They ignored one before, which meant that I missed some days I could have taken.
I don't want to make things difficult but my manager seems slow and simply emails the annual leave person but I don't think that's really working.
If annual leave isn't taken, am I due payment for the days I should have had off?
I don't really want to go down the "formal complaint" route but there isn't much option as nobody really seems bothered.
They'd be bothered if I just took the day off work, alright!

Your holiday year runs Jan - Dec?0

You would only be entitled to payment for missed days if you were able to prove that the company had not permitted you to take the holiday. In your situation I would firstly speak to your manager, and if that doesn't get things sorted you will have to escalate it.0

Examine the holiday policy in detail.
It needs to have terms that override the statutory rules and mean holiday has to be approved.
Statutory rules say if the employer doesot refuse the holiday they can be taken.
Who has the authority to approve holidays, in most places it will be the line management, the rest of the process is administrative.
Kink V Sash Windows is worth a read dealing with untaken holidays.0 -
I’m not sure if it’s the same for everyone but where I work if no response to a holiday request within I think 7 or 14 days then you have the right to those days off regardless0

Depends on contract and if it overrides the statutory notices.

Email and cc in your managers manager then cc in next above and HR if ignoring persists.
Then invoke grievance machinery.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0
