Have you tried your bank and any 'pre-approved' offers you may have, which generally don't leave a footprint on your credit file?
  • It will be quota not your credit history, there is no such thing as a credit score.
Banks only have to offer a certain percentage of the headline rate in deals and then revert back to other rates.

I have always found M&S OK to deal with and the rate reasonable.

  • By way of update I had another look and was offered 7.3% by Nationwide but then 2.8% by Cahoot/Santander. Quite a big difference but it's worked out well in the end. Maybe because my current account is Santander, although my mortgage is nationwide.
