AR UK Ltd Debt Recovery

Hi
My partner had a letter in September from a Solicitors called AR UK Ltd saying that he had an outstanding debt through a finance company called Close Brothers Military Services whilst he was in they military and asking that he sign a bank mandate to pay them back 10.00 per month. This is obviously either mistaken identity as he has never been in the forces or a scam The company is based in Southampton. He threw the first letter away but he has had another one today. Not sure what we should do about it ? Has anyone heard of anything like this before ?

Sounds very odd
I can't find any trace of AR UK Ltd Debt Recovery in Southampton - a search just links back to this thread.
I'd be tempted to send a prove-it letter and see what comes back

Does anyone know I any template letters ?. I think this is a case of mistaken identity and he wants to write to them saying that this debt isnt his.
ThanksDFD - 10.09.2020. DMP Start Date 10.10.15 .

They are not on the FCA register under that name either, so do not hold a consumer credit licence or have FCA permission to trade, unless they operate under a different company name, they do not have permission to act as debt collectors.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. As well as that letter, you should attempt to close them down by sending a letter of rectification for them to note on their files your partner is not who they think. Advise them they are processing personal details unlawfully and anything other than a confirmation they have made a note about their mistake, and you will complain to the Information Commissioner. Get proof of posting.

"Debt" collectors can be anyone though this one looks strange. But set them up for a ICO compliant if they are less "professional" than most DCA'sUnlike some here, I am not omniscient. If I am wrong correct me. I won't take offence.
