Thanks all. As for driving on meds, he has to do a trial over the next week while he is on holiday. His gp has already said he must not drive if he is affected at all. Incidentally, his manager's response was, oh well, take the tablets and just see how you get on at work!
If he's ok functioning by day, when takes tablet at night, then that's good. If not, then it's bad and back to gp. His neurologist did say that if the meds didn't help at all then they would refer him to the community head trauma team for a more holistic approach. I'm in favour for that, but I still feel that he needs to come off night shift working at least until his sleep improves and his condition too.
I also thought that his manage was talking rubbish - I don't think he knows the law, as I say, he's still learning in his role. But I have a feeling that we will have to involve the union otherwise they will simply stitch him up, like they always try to do. It doesn't help their case that a few employees have won the right to only work day shift elsewhere - people doing the same role.0
