Mortgages and commuting

Hi guys. Just offered on a property and looking to process mortgage application through Nationwide directly as we are porting existing mortgage. They ran through DIP today and we have a full application appointment on Thursday. Just wondered if anyone had any experience on how they are with long(ish) commutes?
My husband currently travels around 30 miles each way but as this involves the M25 it takes around 1 to 1.5 hours a journey. He's been doing this for 3.5 years and has no plans to change his job (he's been there over 10 years). The new house will be 45 miles to work but as it won't involve the M25 the commute time is fairly similar.
I work 10 miles away and that can take between 30 minutes and 1 hour to get to work. New commute for me will be 30 miles but still only 45 minutes to just over an hour. I have no plan to change jobs and am actually tied in on a training contract so couldn't leave even if I wanted to!
We are well in on our affordability so even with an increase in fuel costs we will still be fine on that but I just wondered if commuting length may come up when we have the full application appointment?

From Nationwide I have never had them question a commute. Only a handful of lenders are well known for this and smaller ones tend to be the ones to ask more questions.
Even if they did ask, if the m25 is involved I doubt a commute if 1.5hrs wouod be classed as unreasonable. Most people that commute towards London will have a similar commute. It's more about sustainability and the odds of you jacking in the job. If you were going from a 20 minute commute to a 2 hour commute it might raise eyebrows.
You will be fine with this bit0 -
I commute 60 miles each way and it wasn't questioned. They just look at affordability so as long as your income is enough to cover your outgoings, including fuel/commute costs, then I don't think it matters0

In Greater London and surrounding areas, 1.5 hours isn't an extreme commute in the short term.
I'd be surprised if a mortgage provider didn't accept this.
On the other hand, i've often heard that after a few years, the people doing it will find it hard to accept.
I traded in a three hour daily roundtrip for a slightly less well-paid similar job with a one hour round-trip and it gave me my life back. Be aware you might end up tempted to do the same. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Depends on the lender. I have had a lender decline a client who was commuting 55 miles. Each to their own i guess but seemed a reasonable commute to me0 -
I second the majority of peopl here. a lotta lenders dont really factor in the commutte costs heavily.
I commute 50 mile each way. and it didnt get pickedup with Halifax application365 Day 1p challenge - £371.49 / 667.95
Emergency Fund £1000 / £1000 ( will enlarge once debts are cleared)
DFW - £TBC0 -
Thanks everyone and you were absolutely right. Nationwide didn't question the commute at all and we now have a mortgage offer!0
