Automatic discharge tomorrow

Hello,
Can't believe how quick that year went!
I just have a couple of queries.. I am discharged from bankruptcy tomorrow 12th November. Obviously I'm not expecting anything other than a normal day. Originally I did sign an IPA of £50 per month, however, I didn't end up making payments due to changes in circumstances and that was then set at £0. I am aware that I will still need to inform CW of any changes in income etc for the next 2 years.
I've been reading the sticky thread about contacting ex creditors to do a 'clean up' which I intend on doing.

Something Ive always wanted to do is open up a savings account and transfer small amounts every pay day, my partner has a little bit of 'emergency fund' set aside but that is in cash, which we don't touch unless the car dies etc.
If I open a savings account with my bank, and put the emergency fund in there, plus a top up of £10 a week from wages, would that be seen as an issue with CW? It's such an awkward one because as much as I'd love to celebrate being 'debt free' I'm worried about breaching my IPA conditions, albeit set at £0..
Any advice, as always, is very much appreciated.

Thanks and happy Monday!

Myself and my partner were talking about opening a joint account and running the family costs together as a way of moving forward, as she had no idea I had any debts until I was going bankrupt. A typical 'Bury the head in the sand' couple of years.. We never spoke about money prior to bankruptcy as I was trying manage without worrying her, and also I was worried she would flip and take the kids and leave me.. I'm very fortunate that she done the opposite, and helped me sort out the application etc and held my hand through it all. Now we talk about money all the time and I'm honest if I haven't got enough to cover the food shop, we make compromises, whereas before I would've put it on card or into overdraft..
Would this be a better idea after the IPA and CW are settled in 2 more years? As I don't want her to be dragged into anything effecting her credit score or having an restrictions herself.
  • Well Done :)
Your credit history will be trashed for 6 years - until the record of the BR falls off. If your partner has a reasonable credit history - then don't share an account with them until the 6 years is up or you will drag their rating down.

The IPA can, as you know, be reinstated if your circumstances improve. However, having a small savings account should not be a problem.
