  • Hi,

If you go into the post office, you can ask them for a leaflet which details all the various postage charges for different weights/sizes of packages.
much work to be done - new sig coming soon...

  • Hi Holley

I use the Royal Mail web site and their postal prices page and the kitchen scales. Make sure you weigh your item in its box or envelope you are going to send it in. I then add a bit extra (£1 or so max) for packaging. Although I do save all envelopes and boxes which we get in to use to send out again, so the cost is usually minimal.

On the odd occasion where I have over charged I have refunded the difference as I don't want a negative rating. Also I have lost money where I cocked up and undercharged it. Hey ho, its not the end of the world!

    Hope that helps.
    LG

Just dont buy your jiffy bags at the post office as they are very expensive! You can always send away for freebies and reuse the packaging they send you.

    Good luck

  • I have this page in my favourites, and as loftygirl says, add 50p or so extra for your packaging, sellotape etc.

Have fun, and make yourself some cash:)
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
  • also, the pound shop if you have one near you, usually do jiffy bags... 5 for 1GBP etc... worth a look!
  • You can also legitimately add onto the base postage price a packaging cost - I usually add about £1.00 for smaller items - if you add up the cost of bubble wrap, tape, etc and even your petrol to the post office it's fine.

Some sellers try and avoid ebay fees with extraordinary postage costs - these sellers are to be avoided - in some countries ebay has a button to advise them of P155 takers like this - so far not seen in the uk.

It is also worth you providing the size and weight of your packaged item and a link to the RM postal calculator (CLICKY) on the listing so that overseas customers and those wanting a different service to the one you list can work out their own costs for themselves - saves a lot of questions.

When I had a ton of things to sell this year I had a good butchers at similar items on ebay. Only once I missed out so that wasn't too bad. Great idea ebay is to get a little bit of money, especially this time of year.
