Problems with new glasses

I had my eyes tested at Vision Express a couple of months ago and my prescription had changed, the optician said one eye had changed quite a bit so I needed new glasses.
Eventually chose a new glasses from spec savers , one pair of varifocals and a pair of single vision .
I’ve worn varifocals for a few years but I just can’t wear the new ones as they make me feel dizzy and the single vision pair also feel just wrong .
I’ve never had any trouble before with new glasses in almost 40 years of wearing them so I am wondering if the prescription is correct , has anyone else had a similar experience?

About 2.5 years ago similar thing happened to my Nan, new glasses never suited her. Only in the last few months she was diagnosed with ophthalmoplegia.

No matter how many eye tests and prescriptions she had during that time nothing helped.

She is now undergoing treatment, but because of her age (90) they do not think it will improve.

when you start wearing new specs with new numbers, it takes a little time for eyes to fit in that. I will take a few days and you will feel better.
I do not know about ophthalmoplegia, you can check for that if you want to. My mom too is facing that kind of issue for 2 weeks. Let's see how does this move ahead.

Go back to Specsavers and explain to them. Ask them to check that the lenses have been made to the correct measurement on the prescription.

If they have then you need another eye test to confirm that the prescription is correct.

My husband had problems with one pair of new glasses and it transpired that the optician's figures had been wrongly interpreted as the the figures were badly written.

When I went back to spec savers regarding the varifocals they thought that the problems might be because I had taken a standard varifocal lens and I had a higher grade of lens in the previous glasses which were from vision express .
On that visit I picked up the single vision pair and they were awful , everything seems squashed together , it’s hard to explain . I have prescription sunglasses in single vision and comfortably swap between them and varifocals in current prescription.
I have booked a new eye test with spec savers as I now don’t feel confident about the original test and the changes that have been made. I’ll have to decide what to do next after that .

I had exactly the same problem when switching from Vision Express varifocals to Specsavers ones. I think VE ones were far superior quality but they were very expensive. Specsavers do however have a policy where you can keep going back and they will adjust the lenses until you are happy

i always struggled with that pair. after 2 years it was time for a new pair and we got around it by the "middle letter box" part of the lens, being wider. Much better
