New Facebook group to expose fake comps!

Options
Hi all, apologies if this is already on here, I did have a quick look.

https://www.facebook.com/compbureau/

This Facebook page had been set up by someone on another forum. It says:

Welcome to the CBI. We are an organisation run by the comping community that enforces competition law upon Competition promotors on Facebook. We investigate, name and shame as well as use the community to boycott. We believe the comping community do all the leg work in promoting promoters and their pages, the least we deserve is that promoters honour what they promise. All our officers are volunteers who are dedicated to fighting for he comping community. We are at the very beginning of our existence as an organisation so please have patience while we find our feet but please let us know of any competitions or promoters that you suspect to be not living up to their promises, help us by informing us if we get it wrong or anything 3lse you feel would be helpful. If you would like to join us as a CBI officer please get in touch, all it takes is a little of your spare time and a willingness to learn the law 😉

I thought people here might like to join up so we can keep the comping community safe from scams.

Wonder what "Law" that is as FB rules and most of the guidelines from the ASA are not "Law" and also what organisation they are employed by that has given them any legal powers of enforcement.

There are various "Name and shame" groups and this seems to be another*, it appears their posts so far are about already well known and researched scammers/scam sites.

*Wonder if they are actually "like" harvesters given their pretense at being something they clearly are not, unless they are just hoping to attract more members to what is a very small group by trying to appear in some way as "official".

Just checking it is not April the 1st, There are a lot of groups on facebook that post scam competitions. The pages will just laugh at the group, There is nothing they can do that other pages can't. People just need to report the page and enough people do then facebook will act.

I've been in a few of those 'name and shame' groups and seen a number of legit pages slated unfairly. Some are quite helpful in letting people know when they see dodgy dealings but remember that anyone can post in them and people don't always get it right.
