Does anyone have a worktop/compact dishwasher??

I'd love a dishwasher, but don't have the room for an under worktop one.
I've looked at the worktop/draining board ones loads of times but wondered how good they are? It's just the two of us, although I cook every night and I work at home so there is always a pile each day.
Also - how are they plumbed in?? I have a mixer tap - does it attach to the tap? Or does a holehave to be drilled through the work top ?
And also..........what about pans??? I guess they have to be done by hand?
I'd even go so far as to say I'd ask Father Christmas for one it would be so gratefully received!!!!! (and I NEVER want practical stuff usually!!)

My son has one of these. They are plumbed in like a normal dishwasher or washing machine with an outlet into the waste pipe. I think they are great -take pans and cutlery etc and for an old lady like me you don't need to bend to fill and empty it.But they take up a lot of space on your worktop.0

I've just done a bit of measuring and was surprised how much space they take up. I've put a 'want' on my freecycle group as a starter, there aren't any close by for sale on Ebay.
I've seen a proline one for £129 but it feels a bit of a 'want' rather than a 'need', so I might wait until the January sales if there isn't one gathering dust in another freecycler's house.
I've even gone as far as re-arranging some other bits in the kitchen so one would fit.
Some say they have a pipe which connects onto the tap - is that right? I'm guessing it doesn't matter what kind of tap they connect onto?"Stay Wonky":D

I started a thread a while back about dishwashers, although not really about the compact ones. I've had mine a few months now and I LOVE IT! Seriously I LOVE IT! I haven't got a massive kitchen and i've had to sacrifice a cupboard to get one in but it is totally worth it. Wouldn't be without it now. Have you got any room for a slimline one?0

No............sob..........no room for a slimline one. I have 4 bottom cupboards plus a 'half' width one and they are all full of pans, dishes, cleaning stuff, overflow stuff like flour and one has the boiler thingy in it. It would have to be a worktop one.
I think I will grit my teeth until the january sales and then see if I still feel the same (although I think I know the answer!!!!!)"Stay Wonky":D

Me too. Sacrificed a corner and cupboard by my sink for a slimline. It has really made storage a problem in my kitchen but like you I love my dishwasher as I do any member of the family!
It would have been great to have a full size one though.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01
