    :D Indeed, I am always on a lookout for one of these when I see this kind of topic. It always reminds me of that police officer thread a few years ago who still thinks it is a brilliant idea to opt-out of the pension police because it will save money/costs too much despite many pages of posts saying that it is not quite a good idea.
  • I was in a LGPS in me first job from 1993-1996. I was on around 10k a year at this time. I recently got my yearly pension statement through and it stating a lump sum of 2.5k plus around £700 per year as a pension


    Yes this is incredibly small, but for the amount I was earning, and the few years I was in the scheme I think this is an excellent return lol

    You may also have a generous life insurance component in your pension that would be expensive to replicate privately.

    Opting out is what I'd consider as a false economy.
