Just make sure there’s no body hair on any of your soap scraps :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:7 -
Brillo pads rust after a couple of uses. Whenever I buy a box I cut each Brillo pad into quarters using kitchen scissors. That’s all that’s needed to scrub pots and pans.8

Hooray! at last we are 'normal'. The children all think we are tight but we prefer to call it 'thrifty'. Happily though they are inheriting some of our habits. Where do we draw the line between saving because it might be useful later and hoarding? My Nephew thinks that if and when my Brother and Sister-in-Law pass on, it would be easier to set light to the house! A bit extreme.

I use old tights, hold ups etc to tie up my garden plants when I’ve finished with them. You
can cut around the upper body piece too and use that as well. It’s great for holding thr plants up etc. I also keep the plastic covered twisters you get from food bag boxes and other items. If they’re not long enough I twist two together. Old shoelaces, ribbons, cords etc are all good. I rarely buy anything for tying bits up indoors and out.7 -
Save the nets that onions oranges etc come in to use in the garden as climbing supports.... my fence looks quite colourful too.....

Is it safe to use the cold water that initially comes out of the hot tap to fill the kettle. Having an oil boiler I seem to have to wait and waste a lot of cold water first whilst waiting for the hot to come through?6

Another one - excuse me if it's already been posted - is to turn jars of jam, marmalade etc., (after checing they don't leak) upside down in the fridge. This stops air turning them mouldy. I like the fruit spreads that go mouldy very quickly and this keeps them fresh for as long as I want.Clutter free wannabee 2021 /52 bags to cs. /2021 'stuff' out of the placeYOU CANNOT BE ALL THE GOOD THAT THE WORLD NEEDS, BUT THE WORLD NEEDS ALL THE GOOD YOU CAN BEtaken from Shelbizleee on YouTube - her copyright7

RicardaRacoon said:I have this discussion with my Dad on a regular base. His kettle has a minimum-indicator which I think is about a pint. So too much for a cuppa... I always boil my kettle with just about the right amount of water, after a while you get a good feeling how much you need. Whenever I am at my parents and want a cuppa I have to boil a whole pint as my Dad insists the kettle will be damaged if boild with less water... Won't believe me that my kettle survived it too.....
