Sweater, gloves, socks, handkerchieves......
Or how about one of those 'Experience' days, like Red Letter used to do ???"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
If you can't buy him clothes, then how about giving him a gift voucher for a shop such as Marks & Spencer, where he can choose his own?
The other thing to consider is sometimes with parents, they really don't want or need anything & it can be the little things they appreciate the most. I've always had a thing for liquorice & would be chuffed to bits when my son managed to buy me some liquorice pipes come birthdays or Christmas & would have been quite content with just those. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Voucher as said is a good idea. Or how about one of those fun day things you can get similar to red letter days. Or how about taking him for a meal.0

If he likes golf, what about a round of golf somewhere he might not have played before.
A night out at a lapdancing club?
A bottle of wine/cognac from the year he was born?
Give the money to Oxfam or another charity - he might appreciate that as he doesn't need anything.
How much do you want to spend? We all evolve - get on with it0 -
what about a Nintendo DS you could get him the brain training game to go with it0

Ah well, no point in sharing my wisdom then! Although someone might beinterested, so here goes! My dad is 65 and has enough "stuff", but he loves home made things, so every year I make him a fruit cake. Sometimes I ice it, but mostly I don'y because he prefers it plain. It's a very simple recipe and cheap to make, but it looks impressive and doesn't clutter up his house for ever more!0

What about getting a nice family photo framed?
Also, if you are going to buy out thorntons I have a 20% online discount code if you want it, just pm me0 -
You're wasting your time ... in view of the urgency in the OP, birthday has probably passed now.
OP possibly went to check out the lap dancing suggestion - and has found out there's better things than Thorntons toffees .... and forums;)If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0
