What happens now?

Options
We got our mortgage approved with aldermore yesterday :) the mortgage is in in my partners name as i dont work and he is really bad at asking questions, he went in to see the mortgage broker yesterday and signed electronically? Im wondering what happens now, im guessing well receive paperwork, and then our solicitor will do what he has to do, how long usually does it take before we complete? And is this when we pay our deposit and fees etc?

  • Why not just get him to sign a letter or send an email to say he is happy with the broker communicating with you in his place? Will give you better idea about what's going on than anyone here

I have never had a client come to my office to 'sign electronically' in my entire career. Don't even know what it could be referring to.

The deposit is usually due just before exchange of contracts then you complete a few weeks after that.

How long left is impossible to know. Maybe the mortgage was the last piece of the jigsaw, maybe there is still 6 mobths of legal work to do. Impossible to say as we are not the solicitor working the case
  • Thank you for your reply we have now done this and the mortgage broker will be speaking to me hopefully so much better and easier to understand, the electronic signs were for a direct debit mandate and a application declaration, but actually aldermore didnt accept the electronic signs so hes going into today to sign paper copies, i think my partner must have picked him on wrong when he said its been approved if were still signing forms etc

Quite possibly its approved. A lot of lenders will do the full case assessment and some even issue the offer with the Declaration and the DDM outstanding.
  • I spoke to the mortgage broker and he said we should expect the loan offer with us by the end of the week, this has been a horrible experience ongoing from april this year so i have everything crossed that soon it will be over and we will have our home!
