Well done for picking up some more income
  • Thank you both.

Today sadly was not a nsd, its sooo cold in the room I work in and there is no kettle, so took a stroll to the nearest student cafe and was very cheeky, I got a hot water for 40p and used my own tea bag, sugar and milk are on the side out the way of the cashier to help yourself to anyway! Normally £1.60 for a tea! Kerching....now I feel less guilty about a cuppa at lunch time.

So looked at car insurance again, the site didn't remember the quotes so I had to go through again, which though I grumbled at the time was a good thing as it was £150 than renewal quote, £50 less than the same quote yesterday! So bingo!

Tucked myself up for the night, got a liad of washing on and making bibs and clothes for neices nephews and dolls for their Christmas presents.
  • Another nsd day got me so that's 6 this month out of 10 for the nsd challenge wahoo!!

Realised I have not listed debts, was nervous to at beginning but here it goes:

Debts as at Oct 24th 2019 when I started this journey:

    Barclays 0% £2665.46
    Natwest 5.9% 763.34
    Lloyds 0% 3234.18
    B of scotland 0% 3778.63

    Fanlmily A 600
    Fanily B 300
    Family c 105

    Total 11446.61

Family debts I'm trying to pay first- £105 is for hen do next year and family B is for holiday next year too. Family A was because I had no wage come in August due to my work being termly only and I had to use the funds I had put back for this to buy a car as mine went bang.

Learnt lesson, I am looking into summer work!

So focus on family and emergency pot for next summer then natwest.

Well done for listing your debts it's a big step
  • So debts identified kindof a soa....

Bit difficult as I'm 0 hour contract and being self employed to my pay fluctuates so will list overall budget but I try each month to work it through with my earnings.

    All figures monthly.

Rent: 420 (single room lodgings including all bills)
    Car ins:22.72

    Business costs:
    Phone: 20.00
    Microsoft:5.99
    Hp ink:1.99

Other bits I fluctuate with wages but I work on base budget for:

    Food: £80
    Travel:90
    Misc spending/ entertainment :40

    Total monthly cost 680.00

Until now I haven't budgeted for things monthly eg car expenses, Iv just paid out of wages when the time occurs so I have tried to change this this month and started some pots.

    This month Iv done:

    Emergency fund:15
    Car fund:15
    Holidayfund:5.00
Birthday/Christmas:40.00 (will be less after Xmas as thi is really for Xmas pressies)
    Business registration/cpd: 5.00

This is just a starting point and I have a spreadsheet for spending diary to see if I stick within all these areas or if it needs to change next month. I have to put more into emergency fund as this covers if I don't gave such a high wage one month so that priority with family debts.
  • Did a babysitting evening sat night, £40 extra towards debts.

Had a sewing day with step daughter yesterday her first time usi g a sewing machine, she's 8, she absolutely loved it so looking forward to getting her to do more.

Had a funny day today, normally don't work a Monday but had one student booked in and one to proof read work.

This got me thinking I could offer proof reading to all students, advertise through word of mouth.

Also got bibs and trousers cut out for partners new baby nephews for their Christmas presents.

Found a pattern for to crochet fancy fingerless mitts so giving thay a tonight. Ill take it on bus journey to work tomorrow too.

Got 2 extra students tomorrow so longer day but then short days weds and Thursday.

Another nsd today, sooo thinking a out putting it up to 15 days next month.
Plus I need to work out which mse challenges to do from Jan

Giving in and buying lunch is also one of my downfalls, even if I bring something to work I'll often give in and buy something different instead
  • I know what you mean Lemon Tree. I seem to be better in the summer when I can take cous cous and salad but in the winter I like warm lunches but with no access to microwave I have to buy.

I've picked up four new students so hopefully will help with the ones that Iv lost or will be away over Xmas.

    Nsd today and yesterday!

Today was payday but I'm with tsb and so got caught up in the banking issues. Thinking about swapping for an incentive.

I have worked budget out so will post that up tomorrow.
  • I saw the tsb issue on my newsfeed. Im not with them but it looked a hassle. Its happening a lot with various banks. Such a pain isnt it.
