I'm just looking for some advice please.
We are applying to remortgage to a different lender. Do we need to instruct a solicitor?

You'll require a solicitor. Select one from your new lenders panel list. Remember to obtain quotes before appointing.0

Thrugelmir thankyou for your quick reply .
We have a mortage advisor and he never mentioned that we would need a solicitor.
We have received forms to fill in from a solicitor instructed by Nat West. My husband said we sont need a solicitor but the forms advise to have a solicitor check them.0 -
Your lender needs a solicitor. They've already got one. You shouldn't normally need to get independent legal advice for a remortgage.
What exactly are the forms and what do they say?0 -
Unless the legal costs are covered by your lender. You'll have additional costs to bear.0

Sounds like you’ve got free legals with your remortgage with Nat West.
They should be able to handle everything, might be a bit slow but should get there in the end.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
