Discomfort after having a hygienists appointment

Before I start I am not blaming anyone for this. I already have gum disease. Just never happened before.
On monday I had hygienists appointment and had a manual clean. As usual my teeth and gums felt funny for a hour or so afterwards and then settled down.
I ate something yesterday morning and had pain running through my jaw. I had a poke around with a clean finger. And have found that on one of my back teeth the gum is tender. No much better today.
I guess what I am asking is, is it just one of those things that happens especially as I already have gum disease and will settle down in the next few days. Or do I need to go and see my dentist?

We shouldn't be offering specific medical /(dental) advice on here - and as no-ne can see it, no-one can really comment accurately.
It is not unusual for bits of gum to be sore after a hygienist has had a good go at them - but if you're concerned, then really you need the advice of your dentist or the hygienist.
Why not just ring up the practice and ask them what you've asked on here. The hygienist or dentist could then be asked, and they'd be able to advise you much more accurately whether they think you should pop back or give it a few days. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -

Thanks for replying. I tried to word it in such a way that I was not asking for medical advice as such. I do apologise if it looks like I have. And more than happy to delete the post.
As I said I was asking if its just one of those things that is more likely to happen especially if you already have gum disease.
Not worried its just painful and annoying
