"The British subsidiary of the world’s biggest direct-selling group may be closed by the Government as a result of an investigation into its business practices, The Times has learnt.
Amway, which has 12,000 agents in Britain and worldwide sales of $6.4 billion (£3.1 billion), will face a High Court petition on Monday to wind up its activities. The group, which arrived in Britain in 1973, has been accused of being more interested in selling motivational books, tapes and seminars to its sales staff than pushing its merchandise.
The petition, brought on behalf of John Hutton, the Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform, seeks to close the company in the “public interest”. Mr Hutton’s department said that a review of Amway’s activities had been carried out by the Companies Investigation Branch."

No, but my OH fell for it once, what a nightmare. They didnt leave us alone, you felt like they were brainwashing you at seminars. Its taken a long time to get rid of them though.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

No thank goodness , but we went to meeting a few years ago thinking it was something else. A different name , like level 9 or something. When the lady did the presentation she skipped over one of the slides and I asked her to go back. She was very embarrassed as it mentioned Amway. I asked her if what she was 'selling' was indeed Amway and she got very flustered. We walked out.0

I thought Amway was conected with Euronics... but I've just seen a TV ad for the latter...?My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
I sat through a 2 hour presentation once from friends of my ex-wife. It was very attractive and extremely well presented. Only at the very end, during questioning, did they admit it was Amway, soured that friendship I tell you. They were out the door within 5 minutes once I knew what they were actually pushing, shysters :mad:Norn Iron Club Member No. 252 :beer:0
