About 60% equities. The funds were achieving an average of at least 5% over the last 5 years so not too far off the mark. Not achieving that at the moment though.

How often do you get your portfolio reviewed. In the absence of a decent yield on Government & (quality) Corporate Bonds you adviser needs to be looking at alternative options for your portfolio. The old 60/40 portfolio may have worked in the past. Currently on a forward looking basis. It would require equities generally to perform exceptionally well to do the heavy lifting required.
  • The portfolio has only just moved to an IFA. Previously I had it all invested in VLS60. The portfolio is reviewed quarterly.

VLS 60 returned 15% in the first 9 months of 2019 and the market has done well in October. An IFA would have had to work very hard indeed to achieve less than 5% return. Or are you talking about 2018?
