DBS for self-employed

My other half has just gone self-employed and needs a DBS check before applying for contract work. Can anyone recommend an agency that will do a check for them and is reputable?

I did this myself a few years ago, but can't remember which organisation I did mine through and I want to be sure the agency is reputable.

Thanks but this only covers a basic DBS, should have made it clear we need enhanced DBS.

If you're self employed you can't get your own enhanced DBS check. Your husband would need to get a (potential) client to apply for this, making it clear that he is prepared to meet the cost of doing so.

I did my own DBS (I am self-employed) so I know it can be done, and mine is enhanced as I work 1:1 with people. Just can't find details of the third party company I did it through.

Having read the above I am glad that I did mine a few years ago as they have obviously changed the rules (mine is a rolling DBS).

It is unfair, as if, like me you work with individual clients you have no way of reassuring them that you are trustworthy. Certainly for private tutoring I would expect to be asked for a DBS by parents whose children I was coaching.

I suggest ringing up the DBS helpline and asking what they suggest.
