How much did you pay for (private) crown?

Options
Hi
Have just been quoted £1150 for a Zirconium crown (with post).
Includes post fit/crown preparation/impressions and the Zirconium crown.
Seems very expensive.
Anyone had similar done recently?
Thanks.

That seems a bit 'top-end' to me - I charge about £550 - but that post you mention is a separate thing, and also a precision lab-made item, so with me would add a couple of hundred to the bill too.

Different practices have different overheads. I'm in a rural northern market town. Prices would be dearer up here in the bigger city centres, and if you're in the leafy suburbs of the south east, or in the dearer parts of the Capital - then prices could be in a whole different league.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

I was astonished to find that my crown was covered by the NHS. £100 or so.

In what part of the UK?

As I understand it, certainly in England, any course of dental treatment involving a crown is Band 3 which costs c. £260. Strangely that would cover any number of crowns done at the same time if they were clinically necessary.

I've just had crowns replaced @ £499 each. Posts still in place and healthy after nearly 30 years. New ones are Emax which look fab.

All treatments have their place - and are appropriate if clinically indicated, and provided with full informed consent of the patient.

Why would they be a no no? What have I missed? I haven’t heard anything about crowns being a bad idea.

I was quoted £800 five or six years ago when I had a temporary crown fitted. Temporary crown happily doing its job, so until it falls apart, I'll be living with it!!!! Every time I go to the dentist they remind me that "it's only temporary" but, hey ho, it's staying.

Unfortunately it is nigh on impossible, if not actually impossible, to register with an NHS dentist here in Cornwall URL="https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-england-cornwall-49972117/coastal-erosion-cornwall-s-dental-problem"]https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-england-cornwall-49972117/coastal-erosion-cornwall-s-dental-problem[/URL
