Business accounts for ex-bankrupts

Hi all, haven’t posted for a while

I was discharged just over 2 years ago from bankruptcy

I have recently incorporated a limited company and i am looking for banking services, both banks i have spoken to (barclays and starling) have said they do personal credit checks (expected) and this may impact whether they accept the application

I thought given it was a company application it would be a bit easier - maybe it will be just a procedure but both banks were a bit negative, i really want to avoid going round the houses over and over again here!

Any advice, tips or success stories, or a steer towards perhaps more amenable banks, would be massively appreciated

Thanks!

A friend of mine used cashplus and I'm sure he said there was no credit checks.
  • Thanks, yes i think thats right, - ideally i would need to use a more recognised name as i will be taking in external investors and a cashplus account might raise a few eyebrows

Any intel on more mainstream banks would be helpful
    Thanks!

I'd try both Barclays and Starling both have given me personal accounts with an IVA showing, also the impact on your credit history of 2 current account searched won't be much and won't last long
  • thanks again but i am enquiring about any experiences opening business accounts in the name of a limited company with me as sole director-

i have personal accounts with these too but it is business accounts i am asking about

I realise that, but what harm is there in applying ? It maybe that's others experiences aren't that relevant some banks may score some business types highly and avoid some like plague

I'd go with the one you use personally the most, preferably one showing regular income and good conduct
  • Hi, I went BR in 2010 and started my Ltd company in 2014. My accountant knew about the BR and RBS accepted me without any problem. I've since had accounts with TSB and Barclays without any problems. These are all business bank accounts.
