Only accept cash for your car, do the transaction in a bank if neccessary, but only take cash, or some other form of payment which cannot later be cancelled or turn out to be fraudulent.

AFAIK even Bank drafts can be cancelled. Normal cheques can be cancelled upto 6 months after paid in.

I echo all of what Wig says.

I too am enraged that people try this and I suppose there are still enough people falling for it for it to be worthwhile.

I can't help thinking it is time to do away with anonymous e-mail addresses so that these con people can be tracked down but I figure they will probably still find a way to carry on.
