Hi

I went bankrupt in 2010 I have now out of the blue received a Tax Demand for over 4000.00 pounds. The HMRC will only tell me it’s in conjunction with my Bankruptcy. I paid the tax from my wages straight on top of my IPA as instructed by Moonbeever and the OR until the following April when my Nil Tax code reverted to normal and the tax went from my wages as normal and my IPA went to the agreed amount. I’m trying to explain this to HMRC but they are not prepared to listen. Has anybody any advice please.

Might be worth calling the OR office who dealt with you bankruptcy ?
  • Hi Thanks, I have contacted my OR office they have asked for a copy of the demand, HMRC were reluctant to send me any details by post, after some discussion they have said the will send me a letter within 4 weeks! HMRC have told me they are only interested in immediate payment!

I am hoping someone might have experience of this.

    Thanks
