The letter said there had been changes in the law and they needed to go over my case because of those changes.

But I checked there has been no recent changes in the law with regards to going away on holiday.

Also they highlighted the parts of my claim that would be affected by me going on holiday ie mobility etc would come under question if I was able to go off on holiday.

I am allowed to go on holiday btw I have done nothing wrong.

But are they allowed to lie like that and say it was to check one thing liek about that thing, but really they are just basically warning me in a subtle way?

Or was it co-incidental ? Or someone reported me?

I find it odd that I get the letter just as I get back from holiday.I hadnt been for a long time away.

They may have done, who knows?

If someone has suspicions they are quite entitled to report them to the proper authority who, in turn, are entitled to investigate.

If you have done nothing wrong then yes, I understand it is annoying. However it is not unreasonable to ensure that public money is being correctly spent.

    Not my question.

I don't think anyone is in a position to give a definitive answer. 74jax's suggestion seems a sensible way forward in your situation even if it does not directly answer your question.

TELLIT01's suggestion that the letter's reference to "recent" legislative changes is alluding to 2016 and simply that the reference hasn't been updated sounds more likely than not to me.

The arrival of the letter may or may not be a coincidence... so what? If somebody has reported you, they need to look into it.

EDIT: to answer your question as well as I can, I don't think that lying (if that's what it is) or heavy-handed "hints" are illegal. May be bad practice, but not illegal.

Perhaps you speak to everyone trying to help you with such disrespect, so the DWP are out to get you?
  • Perhaps they are...;)

Very sporting of them to drop a hint first.

    Personally, I think you're the one over-reacting!

Look on the bright side. You clearly have good research skills, are familiar with new technology, have passable communication skills (maybe polish up on customer care) and are mobile. I'm sure you will find a job soon and can enjoy the dignity and self respect that comes with making your own way in life.

I don't really see the problem here. If part of the benefit award was based on your ability to plan a journey & move about, (assuming you claim to have difficulty with those abilities) and you then go off on holiday abroad, then of course that is going to be questioned as it demonstrates you are indeed able to do both.

I would be interested if you can update this thread after you have had a meeting with them & found out why they are questioning your ability to plan a journey and move about.

I have a feeling you wont.
