Dilemma at work advice needed

This is a thread where someone is suffering anxiety & people are asking 'why do you have anxiety/so much time off work?.. OOoo that seems a lot'.. No actually they weren't. We were asking because how long someone had been off, and why is relevant to the correct advice. Correct advice being something that some people on here are concerned about giving. The OP asked a genuine question - can they be dismissed for a lengthy period of sickness absence. In case you aren't aware, the answer is yes they can.

For no reason, when they aren't gonna offer advice or have anything helpful to say

I am pointing out it is an illness. No one wants to be anxious, no one choose it, my god it can be a life ruiner

So pretty much entirely relevant - as certain people do not seem to understand this at all.

This forum is not a safe place to open up. Unless people have anything helpful to say, then I am not sure why they are posting negativity. I mean some people need have some humanity for gods sakes

PS that last bit is not aimed at you Comms.
I don't see a single piece of relevant advice that you have posted on this thread. Instead you have had a rant about something that wasn't said, and objected to accurate advice on the grounds that you don't like it. Insta of having a rant, why not tell the poster something recant or useful. All you are doing is having a go at people trying to help. So who is being negative now?

I think they were influenced a bit by Davy's post which has since been removed.

Aside from that, what's inherently wrong with providing a link to the mind.org.uk website (specifically the anxiety and panic attack section) given that OP stated they have been signed off for 2 months for anxiety?

Seems perfectly reasonable advice to me :)
Perhaps you could read my post again? The comments made were an attack on other posters which were unjustified, and the link was directed at others who supposedly know nothing about mental health and schizophrenics (not quite sure what the last bit had to do with anxiety, which was the point of the thread). I corrected the impression being given that asking the reason for sickness absence was not in any way relevant or justified, and my response was very clearly stating why it was relevant to the questions asked. Nobody mocked the original poster in the way that this person suggested, and their response was insulting to people trying to help. Something that seems to be a rather unfortunate but common tendency on many of these threads.

I would reply to Les79s deleted post but this thread has been derailed enough already. I will merely comment that when someone details their employment history on pretty much every thread on the employment board, it's not an "uncanny knowledge" to then notice that.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Bet you can't write really small though. My post was not about you. Thank you kindly

To be honest elsien, fwiiw I didn't think you said anything wrong, although I think that perhaps people without that history might have read your post in a different light. I had posted on more than one of that persons threads before realising that there was more going on than met the eye; and on other occasions I was quite confused about what they were saying anyway. But now, having seen quite a few posts and also read some of the previous ones, with the greatest of sympathy, I do think that advising them to seek some help was a kindness, and that is how I read what you said. The number of jobs that this individual seems to have held, and the number of times they have resigned or been dismissed, does not suggest a healthy lifestyle. It must be very distressing for them. Employment is a staple for most people, and I am sure that they want the kind of stable employment that many others have. Given the nature of their posts, that does not seem likely to happen for them unless they get help. Oftentimes, the truth may not be palatable, but it is also in the persons best interests.

This is a thread where someone is suffering anxiety & people are asking 'why do you have anxiety/so much time off work?.. OOoo that seems a lot'.. - I don't know if that is the point they are making. But from my perspective - Sickness policies are there to cover genuine sickness. Pulling a sickie would be GM. So I don't think anyone is having a go about anxiety, but rather saying that - despite having this condition, if you are unable to work then you will eventually lose your job
