O/S Daily Tuesday 22 October 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Dark, damp and cool start to the day.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and ok.
Dinner last night was fish, chips, beans for the menfolk, I had baked fish and veg. I remembered to get the chicken breasts out of the freezer to defrost, so tonight we'll be having stuffed chicken breasts, mash and LO veg.
Yesterday work as expected was quite manic, we had several people queueing at the door from 20 minutes before we were due to open. We didn't stop all day - we didn't get off to the best start as we'd lost some technology that stopped us doing the first part of the job I do first thing on a Monday. It did get sorted but we had problems with other tech until well into the afternoon, this may mean we have a knock on effect today with people returning.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Blooming freezing here today, I have flicked the switch and put the heating on for an hour we need to sort the timings out tonight so that it comes on at 6 for an hour or so, there was a desperate scramble getting out of bed this morning and getting more clothes on , so its time for heating!!!
Off to work today and my work mate has the day off so im working with a different person today which will be nice for a change.
Filled pasta for dinner tonight with a big salad and maybe a bit of garlic bread its a lovely quick meal.
I finished pickling my onions last night and they are now all tucked away in a dark cupboard till Xmas, my friend gave me a ghost chilli to put in some, which I cut last night and put half a one in one jar of onions, anyway I dabbed the end of a bit of chilli on my tongue
and my goodness it was the hottest thing I have ever tasted (and we like a hot chilli) that one jar of pickled onions is going to be volcanic !!
Need to do a wash tonight which will have to put it in the td and I need to start looking at Birthday / xmas presents, I have a load of Birthdays in Nov and Dec.
Dumpling thinking of you xx
Right better get on have good days all xx0 -
Good morning everyone.
My trip to the dentist was successful so that's all finished now. On the way back I called in at Marks to return one item and collect two more. One will be going back today.
DM had a visitor yesterday, a really lovely woman who is facing her own challenges. It was wonderful to hear gales of laughter coming from the living room from both of them. I served sandwiches and cake to them but stayed away from them otherwise.
My quest to plan for post-op goes on. Yesterday it was slip on shoes. The pair from Marks were too big and the cheapie ones from A mazon too small and fairly nasty. I've now ordered a pair from S ketcher's which will fit perfectly and I will wear after it's all over.
This morning DM's cleaner is coming to visit and bringing her short term replacement to meet DM and get to know the house. The regular cleaner is having her big toe fused next week so will be away for about six weeks.
All is well here. My thoughts to those struggling. Happy Tuesday to all.0 -
Morning All
How are you dumpling?
Quick one from me, I'm on a course today near to home but have to go into work first, bit of a pain really.
Anyway, washing all dried yesterday, just needed airing off when I got home. Baby Sophie visited my work, lots of cooing ladies!
Hope you're all well, take care. XX0 -
Morning :hello:
Thinking of you dumpling xx
My lazy day didn't happen – I had the urge to sort foodI went through the fridge and it looked good with things lined up neatly so I decided to make a start on the cupboards too. I think I'll take my time and make the job last all week, I really want every last packet and tin sorted. I actually know exactly what we have and where it is, I just feel a need to have it very tidy.
I do think I'm in serious danger of becoming a boring housewifeso I'm going to have to do something about that. My friend lives round the corner, I have wine. I'm sure we can find a couple of hours at some point where we're both free – it doesn't happen often except for mornings and 9.30am is a bit too early for me, lol.
I'll have a shower in a mo, then walk Scamp. The rest of the day will involve shuffling tins of beans and packets of super noodles

Morning all,
No yoga/gym yesterday as I needed to go to the SM, prepare dinner and my lunches for the week which took most of the evening. My body is still trying to catch up from an extremely late night on Saturday.
Spends: £7.09 on lunch, £17 on a weeks worth of groceries
NSD: 7/17
With that in mind, I also didn't go to the gym this morning but I have the physio after work today so I'll go to the gym once I've seen him. Need to get back into the routine.
Dumpling - Thinking of you.
Taff - My friends mum was leaving Glasgow to go to the idyllic town of Campbeltown, where her family originate.
RR - I too like spicy food but that sounds a bit too hot! With your excellent cooking skills, I'm sure you'll figure out a way to accommodate.
Gers - Great to hear your mum was in good spirits. And well done on the Goldilocks situation with the slippers haha!0 -
Dumpling, I hope you're continuing to progress.
I had a lovely day with Laura, she needled my ears (aural acupuncture) and then we sorted the food cupboards in her kitchen. They are looking very neat and tidy now, probably won't last long. Then we brought Ziggy home with us.
Today we have visitors this morning, friends are coming to collect the key for the Yorkshire house because they are going up next week. Chris and Crystal are going up this weekend as well. We won't be going up for a while because of Laura. Talking of whom, I have to laugh when I see her. She has such a perfectly round bump, she looks exactly as if she has a beachball stuffed up her top.
I'd better go, things to do before the visitors arrive.0 -
Morning all. Going to drop monitor off at hospital then visit a friend who, just by coincedence, is having about three bags of the clear out...Can't think how that happened! Will also be giving a very large cushion [ think homemade 4ft x 2ft jobbie] to OH's mum and dad for their shed.
Went to opticians for new len, was very weird, all colours had changed significantly, optician was saying the prescription was right, then he checked with the doo dah light thingy, and found a crack going all across the edge...end result, new lens being ordered again...
Everything had the extreme hoover yesterday, all firniture moved ad done behind, all floors washed afterwards, all telamores [ that's what my mother called them - dust hanging from ceiling in ribbons, don't know what they're called in english] hoovered up. Computer sparkling clean.
Will decide on course of action for the day after seeing the friend...
Hope you're hanging in dumpling..good luck with the rest of the prepping Gers. SPeky, it does indeed look idyllic..tru, not boring, just prepared, and now that it's done, you can keep a check on the wine situation...snoozer, hope ziggy behavesHope everyone is doing as well as they can...Thinking Tuesday...

Afternoon all. Lovely and bright here today. I have washing on the line. DH deep cleaned the bathroom yesterday and replaced the shower curtains. He has gone out with a friend for lunch. I will be having spinach soup I made yesterday for my lunch later.
Gers lovely to hear about DM laughing and and having a good time with a friend. You seem to be making thorough preparations for your op. Taff enjoy your visit with your friend. Dumpling sending healing vibes.
Well have a good afternoon folks. Hugs and spoons all round.
