soa food allowance reduced

Options
Hi all,

I went to bankruptcy 2017 , 2018 I have been discharged,my IPA has been varied on times when I had lower paid etc, that’s all right and went smoothly.
I have informed my usual officer I’m not single anymore, he was off so his colleague has ask me new details etc, but biggest my shock was she reduced my+16y daughters food allowance from £55 to £30 per week because I have partner now.
can someone explain to me please is that ok/right? £240 per month for 2 adults and teenager , when I had 220 for two of us?
Maybe I just don’t understand how does it works, but when last time
my usual officer have checked my expenditure, he said £250 is fine for two of us.
So this lady wants to pay me £120 for half food at home, and £120 will cover my partner, but it does make £240 per month for 3 nearly adults.
Please I’m not asking how to cook cheaper or so, I’m asking if she is right doing things like these please?
many thanks

This is unbelievable... I have been allowed nearly 350+ for food. Just myself and young child.
Looks like it depends on the OR... mine was absolutely brilliant.
  • I been ok with previous amount ,especially when is nearly 2y in all way, but this shocked me really, another adult that eats more than we both, in household, and that’s the reason she reduced our allowance to £120.
I going to not agree with her, just though is worth to ask opinions/ advises there.
I have sent her bills copies that she has asked, so should be with her tomorrow/Tuesday , will see what IPA amount she will get.
but I really want to challenge food allowance

I think a starting point for an adult and child would be 55 pw or about 240 per month

A starting point for 2 adults and a child would be 80 pw or about 350 per month

However if your partner has an income then he/she would be expected to contribute proportionately
  • yes he will contribute it but anyway it seems a bit low to me when we are 3 adults (daughter is 16.6y)

Hi, The food amount you have been allowed is ridiculously low - as said in my PM, I'll be back to you later on the overall picture.

Does your partner earn significantly more than you? If so then it’s more likely that the OR has allocated more of the household expenditure to him and reduced your allowed contribution. If that’s the case then they’re saying the amount allowed per adult is the same but that he should be paying more of it than you.
  • partners income not disclose so she done calculations 50/50
