I can't find this issue on the Forums re Sainsbury's and Horizon Parking Ltd

  • Hi,

thanks for the responses and the care and though that has gone into many of them.

One responded that there are hundreds/thousands of people who are in a similar situation - but looking through all the threads and posts I could, this just did not seem to be the case and my post tried to make this plain. It's not my intention to waste anyone's time or effort; had I found the answer I was looking for I'd have utilised any information on that happily.

You see, my Son DID NOT receive a charge notice EITHER on his vehicle at the time this alleged overstay occurred NOR in the post subsequently. The first he (or I) knew about it was when the Letter from DRP arrived on Friday demanding payment of £140. We have no way of proving this negative - if Horizon sent out a charge notice but we did not receive it or if they just did not bother, or if it's been lost in the post.

Plus, this happened over three months ago and there was no detail in the DRP letter apart from the date (17Jul19) when this alleged overstay occurred. Thus, we have no information, no detail, no proof and no contact from the parking company - only a single letter from DRP requiring payment of £140 by 29th October 2019.

I could find no post or thread that was the same (or very similar) as this, but if anyone knows of one then I apologise - I'd be overjoyed to read through it to see how it was handled and how it turned out.

I am in the process of writing to the CEO of Sainsbury's (Mike Coupe) and someone posted a very helpful email suggestion regarding Horizon being an Agent of and employed by Sainsbury's that I perhaps should use to write back to the Careline.

Again, I am thankful for the interest and advice you have all contributed to our situation, I do appreciate it.

    Regards,

    Prof_Al

Submit a SAR to Horizon (obviously in your son's name - or he does it in his own name) with proof of ID, such as a copy of the V5C. Advice on SAR is in NEWBIE sticky post # 2.

The point is that most of this is irrelevant unless it goes to court. Even then the judge may not rely on it a great deal when making a decision. That isn't a stage anyone really wants to get to.

The salient points, at this point in time, are that Horizon want money and DRP are writing letters to him. Sainsbury's are the employers of Horizons

Currently anything else is just trimmings. This is a hugely automated process and when dealing with Horizon or DRP all you will get are standard template letters. You are, in essence, dealing with a ticketing machine here.

Keep on at Sainsburys as they are the only ones who can stop this process currently.
