I currently have burning away some tealights i bought from sainsburys - they are spiced and very christmas smelling. I think they were about £2ish for 25 candles.March 2006 £15,200+ in debt April £843.64 in debt - Debt Free date Sept 2009

Primark do scented candles too very reasonably priced if you have a store near you.
Ikea ones smell really good and also very cheap.0 -

I know you said M&S are expensive, but they did do the candles 3 for 2 last year. Might be the same again this year. They also sell the room fragrances (they cost £4 last year - lasts for ages though). I had (still have) the mandarin, clove and cinnamon. It's lovely.0

I looked on the M&S website and they are doing the 3 for 2. They have the mandarin, clove and cinnamon oil for £2. Why not just put a few drops with water in a burner. It's a lot cheaper than candles. http://www.marksandspencer.com/gp/product/B000SBRZBI/sr=1-2/qid=1196210331/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&node=42966030&m=A2BO0OYVBKIQJM&keywords=room%20fragrances&mnSBrand=core&size=9&rh=&page=
And the room spray is 50p cheaper this year. http://www.marksandspencer.com/gp/product/B000SBRZEA/ref=pd_sbs_3?ie=UTF8&mnSBrand=core0 -

I have just bought a couple of Sainsbury's candles - They smell fab when burning. Come in a xmas themed tin - start at £2.50 - they have some lovely xmas candle gift sets too but not in the 3 for 2 offer. Darn it.:p

Another vote for Sainsbury's. I bought a few of the large-ish sized 'Christmas Spice' candles and they are absolutely gorgeous. They have a really strong smell once lit. They were £2.99 each but 3 for 2.

I might go for the bigger candles next time from sainsburys as the tealights dont last all that long - but they are fab though

Wow..look at all these replies.
Have decided to go with M and S - didn't even notice there was a 3 for 2 offer last time I was there...doh!!
It works out at lesss than £3.50 a candle and for the size and strength of smell I'm quite happy with that...

Thanks for this suggestion..but I always forget about the water and wonder what that burning smell is a couple of hours later..trying to extinguish a burning oil burner when you are sloshed, it actually quite scary:eek:
At least with the candles in the holders they just put themselves out....
Merry Xmas everyone.....:beer:0
