I thinking of getting some guitar lessons from a proper person as my home based learning is going erm... badly.

Anyone no how much i should look at paying or anything else i should no?

Hi,

I'm mainly self-taught... I took a course last year - at the mac in Birmingham. Think this was £60 for a term (10 lessons). It was a group of about 6 - it was ok, but a bit unstructured for me, i was really looking for more technical stuff to learn and do. I think this is about the normal price for group lessons, and probably best to speak to the teacher before if you can to find if it is what you're looking for, maybe even go to a lesson before you pay for the complete course.

I've not taken any private lessons, but heard it's bout £15-20 for 1/2 hour. Again, probably best to try to talk to the teacher before and see if the teaching style will be ok for you.

Best, and cheapest, would be to find other guitarists and have a jam... Great way to pick up stuff, increases confidence, get used to playing with other instruments. I'm always looking for people to play with, but maybe Birmingham is a bit far...
