Daily spends

How much do you think is too much to spend daily on odds and ends like choccie bars and lunch?
I spend about 5 pound a day (25 quid a week) when I work 12 hour days on a lunch and some chocolate. I feel it might be too much to spend but there again in 12 hours you do need a good meal with a pudding, so maybe its not.

This isn't an old style question, so I've moved your thread to where it might get more response.
If you want some ideas on making your own lunches and snacks to save money, have a look back in on Old Style, where I'm sure you'll get lots of help.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
It's not really a matter of what is too much and what is not as everyone is different.
If you are happy with your spending, and can afford it then there isn't a problem. Although I suspect others will ask why you are spending that much as it would be cheaper to take a packed lunch to work etc.
The main point is DO YOU think you are spending too much?0 -
I think 10 quid or 2 quid a day is about right, however, 2 quid a day is not enough to survive 8-8 in the cold days of winter is it?:beer:0

Well make your own lunches then you wont spend as much. Does your workplace have a microwave you can use to warm things up?Baby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0

There is a microwave but it is a matter of having something to take to warm up.:beer:0

Go to shop, buy something, take to work, put in microwave. Eat.
Try to manage every stage by yourself, because your dindins will go cold if you post on here for advice on what shape spoon to eat with.0 -
If you want something really simple, then you can always take a can of soup to work and heat it up when necessary. That is if you don't make your own. There are some fab recipes on the Old Style board AND some great lunch ideas.
My packed lunch normally involves some pitta bread and houmous, which I keep at work and "top up" when required (ie I run out!!). Then I also take a yoghurt and various pieces of fruit. This sees me through the day. DH on the other hand, has a couple of rounds of sandwiches, a yoghurt, sometimes a muffin/cake (either homemade or bought ) and again, plenty of fruit.Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 #18 £2021.83 declared0 -

Make some pasta with a sauce the night before, chill overnight. Place in a microwavable container with lid. At lunch time, approach microwave, loosen lid, pop in microwave for about 2 and a half minutes.

You know what I mean finding 5 different things for each day is a tough job. Things that are not too heavy to carry and all that.:beer:0

You're having a laugh... you're burning cash quicker than you can earn it if you're spending £5 on lunch/choccy.
Easiest solution could be: go to a supermarket that flogs "5 for £2" meals. Grab 5 chilled ones (check the best before dates will last the 5 days). Then run round to the chocolate aisle and get a bag of own brand mini bars of something for about £1 (I got 11 mini bounty bars in Tesco for 75p yesterday).
So, for £3, you're sorted for a quick/easy lunch including chocolate ... for the whole week
As a young bloke, even if you went for microwaveable chips/burgers you can get them quite cheap if you only head for the bargains.
Or, get your mum to make you up meals to take and microwave
