Slow solicitors

Our last four sales & onward purchases have taken between four and nine weeks from offer to completion. Admittedly we were not getting a mortgage and a couple of times we omitted the searches.
Most recently - early 2018 - our sale had already completed and our onward purchase was a repossession, but the other occasions we were involved in chains comprising between three and five parties.
We've never paid extra for an expedited service and when buying the repo our solicitor had never dealt with one before, yet he managed to pull the whole thing off within the twenty-eight days required.
OTOH, although we've used different (local) conveyancing solicitors depending on our location, we have probably made ourselves fairly unpopular by being the squeakiest wheel which seems to have had the desired effect, lol
Moreover, the other parties involved have always been just as motivated..... Mortgage-free for fourteen years!
