Cheap Single Bed & Mattress

Am looking to buy a cheap, but serviceable single bed for my 2 1/2 yr old daughter. I'm 3 months pregnant with her brother or sister so we're looking to get her out of her cot (with sides removed) into a proper bed before next one is here.

That way we can use the cot for the new one once s/he reaches 6+ months, but we'd like a period whereby Daughter is already in her "proper" bed so that she doesn't feel displaced.

Are there any places that do cheap beds + mattress for a reasonable price?

  • Im looking for the same thing. Heres what Ive found so far:

https://www.dreams.co.uk have some reasonably priced beds. IKEA do two different extendable beds, one £64 one £53 but then you buy mattress separate. Someone else posted on a local forum saying Morrisons have a single bed for £30 but Ive no idea what this is like.

    Im still looking.

you want somewhere like Ikea , dreams , Harveys etc where you can actually try the mattress and bed combination, she is likely to be in it for a few years so I'd avoid Argos/Ebay (unless you can find one you like and find the same cheaper).

if you don't like it you will have to pay the collection fee (probably in the region of £20) to return it to Ebay/Argos.

I bought the bed from Morrisons for £30:eek:
    Don't touch it!!!!
You get what you pay for. It looks good but is made from VERY cheap and thin aluminium - The middle leg totally snapped off! leaving my son sleeping on what can only be described as a hammock! He didn't bother telling us until the next day that the leg ahad fallen off! He just moaned that his bed had gone wobbly
The "metal" bars that form the base all bent like bananas - he's not a heavy child either- very skinny in fact!
Please don't waste your money on this so-called bed.

Thanks for all your help - we'll take a look at Dreams and see what we can find.

    Many Thanks!
  • You want an ikea on, we have the one that you can put the ends down as they grow, they are lovely and wide, unlike the saplings ones from argos

Try an indepentant retailer. You will find all the big names such as Dreams, Sleepmaster, bedShed sell mass produced poor quality mattresses at over inflated prices.
