Bankruptcy and business insurance

I was bankrupt about 10 maybe 11 years ago. I was discharged fairly quickly just a matter of months.
Now I run my own business “dog grooming” from a parlour in my garden.
I need to get my parlour and Business insured. Do I have to tell The insurance I was bankrupt all those years ago?

Thank you for the advice

    Hi,
If you are asked 'have you ever been bankrupt, then answer yes. Obviously if they ask ' have you been bankrupt in the last 3/6 years' then no. However I would still disclose it regardless, because if you ever need to make a claim, and they start digging, there may be a clause in your policy which could void the insurance.. Its always best to be open and honest with companies who would rather not pay out if it came to it.
  • As above, if you are asked have you EVER then yes of course it's a yes. However I wouldn't otherwise disclose it. I would instead read/search their terms and conditions for bankruptcy and insolvency and, if no mention, carry on.
