Tyme (Pro) iron or similar?

Hi peeps
I'm looking for someone who has purchased a genuine Tyme or Tyme Pro iron (or any other brand that promises to curl your hair).
I'm tempted by the ads that keep popping up and I would love to hear from anyone who owns and regularly uses one. I have a GHD straightener but want one of these for the curl function. I know you can curl with a straightener, I've tried but I'm rubbish.
I've done a bit of research on the Remington Curl and Straight which seems to be a waste of money based on the reviews I've read.
If it makes any difference, I have shoulder length, very thick hair which refuses to hold a curl
