Invisalign advice - different timeframes for same work?

I've had two quotes in London for Invisalign. Bupa and Sensu.

They quoted the same but one would be done in 15 to 18 months and the other in 2 years. The shorter length one also said I would have a fixed retainer afterwards but would also give the nighttime one.

The one that takes longer said they'd give me two extra sets of removable night retainers (which I'd prefer as I know the fixed can be difficult to keep clean)?

How do I decide?

Does anyone have recommendations for any others in central London or N London so I can compare?

Were any of the people you saw specialist orthodontists?

Why are you so set on Invisalign?

A lot of the dentists trained in Invisalign (like other 'quick' systems) have just been to a course on that one system, and rely on the 'mothership' back at the system's HQ to treatment plan it for them. This can work perfectly well, but it does often leave to that system being used when there may be others much more suited to doing the job better or quicker.

In all honesty - the differences between the estimates you've been given really aren't that much. Different people's teeth move at different rates, and both are educated guesses at best.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.
  • Thank you, the timeframe thing is useful to know.

I suspect there are faster ways but I have a fairly senior role and although Invisalign takes longer, it appears to be the most discreet and flexible option.

I think the Sensu consultant is an orthodontist. He will design them etc and then oversee a dentist and hygienist throughout the process.

Ok - that all sounds sensible. Check that guy is a specialist orthodontist - and if you're comfortable with him, that would be the one I would pick.

The reason being, if anything went a bit 'off piste' with the Invisalign, a proper orthodontist would pick that up quicker, and have more experience to sort it out.
