I've been given a nice pot of expensive jam. Can I freeze some of it?

I don't think it would respond well to freezing. Why do you want to freeze it ?
Jam is a preserve, it is supposed to last a long timeI've got jams and jellies on my shelves that I made last autumn. Store it in the fridge if you're worried it will go off.

I have always been told that for things to freeze well, they need a fat content. Although jam is a preserve as thriftlady rightly says, so it won't need freezing to keep well. Although, I suppose if you wrapped a home made swiss roll around it and froze that.....;)0

Unopened it should last for ages, once opened, keep it in the fridge if you don't intend to use it in a few weeks.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0
