  • Hmm....

Got a letter today from Nationwide, accepting the lower payment via the DMP which is good.

But, Virgin (who previously agreed to the DMP) today sent me a letter charging me £9 for a late payment.

    Grr

  • and today i come home to the news that some c**t has slashed the tyres on my wife's car.

    brilliant. Just brilliant
  • So....my updates...

American express sent me three letters. First one said they were defaulting me, second one charged me for late payment and third one a charge for defaulting.

Rang them, and they said i had never made them aware i was in a DMP and that SC had not been in touch, The letter was sent on October 12.

Anyway, they said they have not defaulted me yet. How very strange.

Anywho....Barclaycard have said they will be defaulting me next month. So be it.

All other creditors are simply accepting the DMP.

First payment goes out in just over an hour.

Despite the hammering of my emergency fund, i do finally have parts of some days where i am not worrying about money. Which is novel.

    Hi Fuster
I've just sent my application pack to Stepchange, and am just wondering how long it took for your DMP to be set up?

I haven't missed any payments yet either, so am wondering if I'm likely to, in the interim. I kind of wish I had too, but on the other hand, I'm glad I didn't, it's not really me. I guess if it was I would have been here earlier.

Also, when you wrote 'all creditors are aware', how did you go about contacting them? By phone/letter and did you do that before you set up your DMP and they would have heard from StepChange?

I'm hearing impaired so trying to figure out how best to go about it, it's proving difficult with most banks doing a great job of hiding their email etc these days.

I'm finding this all pretty TERRIFYING to be honest, so have been following your posts with interest.

Now I can subscribe to your diary too. ;)

Just to say I was asking this because I'd sent all my info by mail and hadn't heard anything for over a week, and was worried all my banking and personal info had got lost in the post. Unfortunately it appears it had. But I've now sent Step Change digital copies of everything since and it's all set up, and I guess in these circumstances, if someone does get hold of my details, they're unlikely to be able to get up to much, and will be the poorest identity thief ever.
