Had an interview last Thursday for a job at a uni. Was told they would ‘let me know by tomorrow’ I.e Friday . It is now the end of Monday and I haven’t heard anything . Should I assume I haven’t got it?

Impossible to say.
Could be that you didn't get it
Could be that the interview panel haven't had availability to meet yet
Could be anything really0 -

Welcome to the real world. Don't despair just yet - much more likely their admin is as poor as most recruiters! Give it a couple of days and then send a polite e-mail making sure you put the emphasis on how much you'd like the job rather than stressing they've failed to do what they promised.0 -
If they told you by Friday specifically and sincerely then yeah. When the interviewer makes a big thing about they'll let you know either way.
My last interview Tuesday said we'll let you know Friday latest. Friday came and at 1pm I received a fairly nice email from the HR department up north for a job in central Essex about it being a no. Mum read they preferred someone more forceful and the interviewers did go on about where I lived in relation to the job location so I think I saw the no coming.
I've got a job on interviews on the go which is 3 weeks old tomorrow with no reply ever received after the promised week which involved second interview so that's heading for Archieve. (I decided I didn't want to follow up as much as it was good practice and there was admittance to having a lot of applicants)
Interview today got plans for a trial shift wrong but they had the decency to get in touch regardless, although that's for a temporary could you start yesterday type of situation vacancy.0 -
No, don't make that assumption. Many things can happen to delay a decision. If you've heard nothing by the end of the week I would suggest contacting them then.0

If we're talking about what the poster wanted you know, it isn't easy to call this. It's possible that the interview panel got delayed in their decision, it's possible that they only phone the successful person and your letter is in the post, or possibly they are waiting on an indecisive first choice and you are second.... If you have a contact number, I'd phone and ask nicely tomorrow.0 -

I assume you have checked your emails, spam folder etc?
Uni's can't always get their panel members together straight after interviews have been finished to discuss candidates and who to offer the role to. Occasionally one panel has energy leave or is ill.

I sat on University panels for admin jobs some time ago. On one occasion the quality of the candidates was so high we couldn’t decide and finally got it down to 2. We sat there until 8.00 pm discussing it and ended up postponing the final decision for a few days to clear our heads. This worked as the person we appointed was first class.
They may have simply had a problem in making the right decision.0 -
Its not looking promising but it might not be over. There are many reasons why you have not been told yet. They could have not made a decision yet, or you could potentially have done really well but finished second so they are keeping you on a reserve list until the first choice accepts (or declines)
I certainly wouldn't call them though.0 -
I agree with others, there are plenty of reasons why they might have been delayed in getting back to you. I would recommend against contacting them. They know that they need to make a decision and that they need to get back to you - what good will it do for you to remind them of this? They know that already! It might feel to them like you are hassling them, and if they are trying to decide between you and another candidate then you don't want to do anything to annoy them at this point! You'll find out soon enough, one way or another. I know it's agony waiting but I doubt it'll be too much longer.0
