Drydens Solicitors transferred my account

Hi all,
New here but need some advice please.
Back story,
I ran up a debt on a capital one credit card quite some time ago and my account was sent to cabot financial. This was then subsequently given to Drydens Fairfax Solicitors who issued a CCJ. I had no knowledge of this at first as all correspondence was going to a very old address and only found out about the CCJ when a bailiff turned up at my parents house. At this point it was too late to fight the CCJ as it had already been issued.
I agreed a payment plan with Drydens back in May 2017 and have paid them on time every month without fail.
Now, I have logged in to my online account today in order to make this months payment and I was greeted with a message saying 'We are no longer dealing with your account, please contact Mortimer Clarke Solicitors on 0333 121 4454 who will be able to assist you'.
This is hugely annoying and in past experience with these so called solicitors I really do not want to give them a call.
Anyone else had issues like this that have come out of the blue or is this a bit unusual?
Does anyone know why they would transfer my account even though payments are being made?
Any help would be great

Hi,
Drydens fairfax are a "gun for hire" or in other words, an independant firm of debt recovery solicitors, many of the big debt purchasing companies will have used them at some point.
Mortimer clarke are Cabots tame solictiors, or put another way, part of the same encore capital group of companies, so they have basically brought your account back in-house thats all.
Debts are bought and sold on a daily basis between the large debt purchasing conglomerates, i agree with you that phoning them is a nightmare, they are oblighed to write to you though, which they will eventually do, so just wait for the letter.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Thank you for your reply.
It only concerned me as I am now getting my credit file back on track and don’t want any further late payments to land on my file due to companies buying and selling my debts.
Also, with this being in relation to a CCJ then what are the legal implications of a late payment due to this?0 -
It’s the default and CCJ that does the damage, a late payment on a CCJ means nothing.
Legal action for debt is taken in stages, once a judgement is granted, if you don’t pay, the creditor has further measures they can take, but each stage costs them more money, so they are loathe to do so, one or two missed payments is nothing, the new owner has yet to write to you anyway, which they must legally do.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
