Is job hopping really a bad thing?

-
Job hopping is appealing because most companies like to screw their employees in pay reviews so the only way to get your true market rate is to job hop. Looked at a certain way it shows ambition and drive as opposed to someone who is happy to sit still and be taken for granted.
Myself, I do try to operate on a two-year minimum rule. I was at one employer for five years. But I do find inertia sets in after a while and it's good to get into a new environment every now and again, irrespective of other factors.0 -

That's really the point, people who are job hoppers do so because they keep getting offered the new jobs to hop to..[/QUOTE]
I think this is true. I've never been a job hopper but not through lack of trying. I was in my last job 18 years despite constantly applying for other jobs but never getting them. I decided the only way I was going to 'escape' was by leaving with no job to go to, so that's what I did. I may yet live to regret it, but so far I have no regrets.0 -
Job hopping is not unusual these days. Like many have said, it all depends on the industry. But i guess i have fall in this category... I am 9 years out of uni... never been a role for longer than 18months. Each role has been a step up and I have enjoyed the challenge, etc.
But its not for everyone. Not all people deal well with frequent change.
When i go to interviews... its often questioned the reason for frequent moves. But i have a reason for each. And so far so good, they are acceptable.365 Day 1p challenge - £371.49 / 667.95
