Old Style Saturday 12 October 2019

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Good morning folks.

Still abed here though I must stir soon. I'm heading home for two nights later this morning. :j I've got a hospital appointment on Monday afternoon which I've already postponed once.

I've woken with a thick throat again and hardly any voice. Must do more gargling. It's all down to central heating which is why my own place is free from it.

So, shopping, sorting out the afternoon tea tray, prepping some food for DM then home. Her friend will be wirh her each day and leave her a flask of tea before leaving.

I hope everybody has a relaxing (and pain free) and happy Saturday.

    Morning everyone

Gers - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH and myself enjoying first cuppas, he's watching catchup tv, and I'm showered and dressed and will be going to town to do a couple of jobs but nothing too major. DS1 still in his pit as he went out last night, expect to see him later, DS2 settled and ok.

Light here, damp underfoot, more rain forecast for the coming days.

Dinner last night was pie, chips and mushy peas for the menfolk, I had fishcakes and veg. Tonight will be hot quiche, scotch eggs, pork pie, salad, cheese, skinny chips and coleslaw.

We'll be visiting the parents later I expect.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

Fairly bright this morning which makes a welcome change, it was a mix of sunshine and showers yesterday. Managed a little walk with DD and the baby yesterday as I finished work nice and early for the holiday.

Will put the washing on when I've had a shower and it can go out if it looks fine, not sure whether to strip my bed or not, may leave it until tomorrow.

Going to the big blue and yellow shed with DD this morning, she needs to have a change of scenery and her partner is playing football. It's baby friendly so we'll probably manage a coffee too. Don't mind going when I don't need anything!

Must go to the allotment this afternoon to clear the tomato plants into the compost, they've finished now.

Have a good weekend, enjoy having your family to stay Specky and have a good trip home Gers. Take care. XX

Morning, Gers, nmlc and camelot. I'm usually too late and there are too many people to greet individually.

Steve has gone to play golf with Chris and we have friends coming at 11.00. Poor Chris is struggling with his mental health again so we felt it was more important to get him out doing something than it was for Steve to be here this morning. The friends are dropping off some baby clothes for Laura - they have a three year old and a six month old so it will be lovely to see them. I'm up to make some brownies and have a general tidy before they arrive.

Then we need to prepare to go up to Yorkshire tomorrow but only for 3 days this time because Steve has his next dose of the maintenance drug on Thursday. It's all go atm.

Morning all! Car was kept in hospital overnight as wrong mirror was delivered so hopefully it'll be back soon because I'm goig out with OHs mother for tea, cake and mooching vintage clothing [I am not planning on buying anything at all]

Managed to offload more fabric onto a lovely lady who picked some up earlier in the week from freecycle, so I messaged her and asked if she wanted more, answer yes, got some tomatoes in return from her, which was lovely...I also said I'd photograph any more to give away and see if she wanted first refusal. Oh's mother might also take some, she's after some for sewing, and I do have some rather large bits that might be suitable, so that's the pile rapidly diminishing...I'm planning to cut it down to a maximum of four medium sized storage boxes and that's for everything, fabric, thread, machine extras, scissors etc...

Have a lovely weekend at home Gers! nanny, hope you're doing better...camelot, snap, the outside ones have blight, the inside ones are mostly still green...have a good shed visit :) snoozer, have a good weekend away too. Speky, enjoy your family weekend!Hope everyone else is doing the best they can...
    Sped up Saturday....

    Morning all

In my head I would get up early get the house work done and be away to the shops for about 11 ish, in reality i I slept through till 10.30 !! must have needed it though so im not worried.

I have put a wash on and there is another to go in after the dryer will have to be used today as its drizzly and wet and set in for the day I think.

Im going to do a roast tomorrow first one I have cooked in ages but its meant to be pouring all day so I wont be going out gallivanting, I am also going to make some soup as I really fancy some for my lunches, im going to do butternut squash red pepper and lentil, will freeze some in tubs to take out each day.

Will have a quick whip round after this and get ready, dinner tonight is spaghetti with prawns and scallops in a creamy chilli sauce (all low fat) and a glass of dry white to go with it.

Nanny I hope you are feeling better today xx

    Have good days all xx

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
  • Gers, enjoy your short break.......

Its another grey day here, not been outside so no idea how cold it is. Heat is off until later tonight, will put it on the warm the bedroom before we go to bed.

Late up this morning, no a lot done, I am waiting for the lamb joint to defrost so I can stud it with garlic and put it in a roasting bag with some red wine. I use the marinade to make the gravy when the meat is cooked.

    Gammon, egg and tomato tonight.
  • Good afternoon all, it's sunny and breezy here so I've got washing out.

DS and family will be over tomorrow, so I'm doing a bit of baking, and there's food to get out of the freezer.
We're having Facetime with the Oz family tomorrow morning as well, well it'll be late afternoon for them.

I hope you enjoy your weekend Gers.
Speky hope you are feeling better.

    Take care folks xx
