    Category 4 = application fraud.

It will depend what checks they do. Do you hold your current account with the bank you have mortgage with?
  • Can you please don't say the words "application fraud"! I'm a victim of the broker:(

I don't have a current account with the bank I have a mortgage with
  • I would have thought doing a product transfer would be ok. What happened on your application though? Did you check the application before it was submitted?

Whatever led to it that is what any lender will see it as I'm afraid.

From anecdotal evidence CIFAS marks seem to be routinely picked up by banks. As a heads up dont be surprised if your current account provider no longer wants your custom.

This quite likely to happen, you'll get a letter giving you notice of account closure. Is there no way this can be corrected as it was a broker error?

I'm now planning to apply for product transfer with the current bank for a cheaper rate. Will this type of application trigger a fraud warning?

Your existing lender will continue to provide you with a service.

If you are genuinely a victim of the broker and whatever they have done you will need to continue the dispute.

Have you made a formal complaint to the broker?
  • Its easy to say this because you don't have a marker!

The broker company is so familiar with the system so they can protect themselves very well.
When my application was declined, the lender just warned the broker but took me the Cifas without informing me.

It's so hard for a customer to flight with a broker's company and a big lender. It's already one year. I'm feeling tired and hopeless. It is very hard to find evidence that they listen. They binned me like bin a rubbish
  • OP,

    Simple question...

Do you have real evidence to show that it was the broker that committed application fraud without your knowledge?

If the answer is "yes" then I am sure CIFAS will react to your case.

In the absence of evidence, did you approve the application in writing? What paperwork exists?

As you can imagine, if a broker submits something on your behalf based on information you provide, in the absence of any evidence to the contrary, it is presumed that you were aware of and greed with the information submitted.
