Make a few small holes for drainage - 3/4 fill with soil - push potatoes in - water and as they grow keep banking them up (put more soil in around stems) as well as watering them. Once they've flowered you should be able to harvest the spuds. :j0 -
NYK i forgot to tell you im thinking of growing my own veg in a little greenhouse. Those ones from argos. its only 40pound but dont think it will work like. going to try and get it in next month or so. dunno when to plant them either. il have to put them in tubs so wont be able to grow any potatoes as they have to be grown in the ground lol
Hi Mumzi, don't take this the wrong way, but are you sure you are doing the right thing spending £40 on a tiny greenhouse plus everything that you'll need to go with it for the sake of some vegetables? With 2 little ones to look after, a holiday coming up, trying to quit smoking and after everything you've been through recently, best not try too much too soon. It might end up costing you more throughout the year. I really admire your enthusiasm but, if I was you, I'd concentrate on getting rid of the debts, quitting smoking, getting well again and getting back into some sort of normal routine. Perhaps once OH has found a new job then you could take up the veggie growing hobby? Don't be upset by what I have written, I really am thinking of how your challenges could help you best. My daughter is 20, same as you, and I try to think of it from her point of view as well, so please don't shout and slam out the door muttering under your breath at me :rotfl:I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.
