    Note to supplier
The production of this declaration does not automatically justify the zero rating of your supply.
You must ensure that the goods and/or services you are supplying qualify for zero rating
    which links back to

"2.3 Who should decide whether goods or services qualify for zero rating
You, the supplier, are responsible for making sure that your customer meets all the conditions for zero rating.

You may not know whether the equipment or appliance is designed solely for use by disabled persons and eligible for VAT relief In such cases, it may help if you get written confirmation of the designer’s intention or the design specification of the product from the manufacturer."

Using that argument - I would nor have a mobility scooter vat free - since "ANYONE" could use it !!

This is where you should be asking

You can find out more from the Helpsheets on the GOV.UK website or by telephoning the VAT Disabled Reliefs

  • A mobility scooter is mainly designed for disabled persons. An Android Tablet it not.

What's the point in asking a question if you're not going to take no for an answer?

But the software that I want to run on the tablet (NGT) NEEDS a tablet to run on and that software is designed solely for the use of a disabled person.

How do I phone the number - I am unable to speak on the phone - hence the need for a tablet to run NGT on - to allow me to communicate on the phone !

The rules are too vague and need clearing up - they were obviously set years ago ...

I thought that you said that you’d already bought the tablet, so why can’t you now use it, if that’s genuinely what it’s for?

If you’ve not installed the software yet then that tends to undermine your claim that it was bought only because of your disability.

The rules are not vague. Only a tablet and assistive technology software sold as a package qualifies. You didn't buy a package so no valid claim. It's that simple.

As above....why ask when you have made your mind up.
