I am looking at buying a mobile phone for my dad for his christmas pressie, the concerns I have is, he is on a pay as you go,& wants to stay & keep his number ( no idea why) so I am looking for a decent phone for christmas that is compatable with o2, but is at a good price.
Any ideas

Wanting to retain the number isnt anything unusual I have had the same number ever since I got my mobile phone back in 96. you can port a PAYG number to another network but if your Dad is happy with O2 then let him stay with O2.
You have 2 options buy another O2 PAYG mobile and just put the old sim in to it.
Buy any phone and get it unlocked or buy an unlocked phone.
The cheapest option will be to buy an O2 PAYG phone that is locked to O2 the phone is discounted as O2 expect you to give them money in the future and make up for the discount.
As for the phone to buy you know your dad better than us lot, if he is like mine and only ever wants to make phone calls and send the odd garbled text message then you can get away with a basic phone but if he is a young dad and techie who will want to take photos or listen to music then you need to go for one that does that. You could get him an iPhone? Loads of people are selling them pretty cheap (less than the cost of a contract) on eBay.0 -
They were selling a mobile phone in Asda the other day or £12, not sure of details of network etc though as it came over the in store radio thingy. If practice makes perfect, and nobody is perfect....................................
Why practice!:T0 -
Carphone Warehouse phones are all unlocked so you can use any SIM card. They have some good deals on if you buy £10 airtime on PAYG. I spent some time hunting around because my son wants a mobile for christmas and each time I searched for a specific model CW came up with best price.0
